Far Eastern University’s in-house coffee shop Cafe Alfredo reopened at Nicanor Reyes Hall (NRH) building study area, their new temporary location yesterday, January 29.
The coffee shop was originally located at Alfredo Reyes Hall (ARH) which is now being renovated together with the Science Building.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, Cafe-in-Charge for Kitchen Operations and Productions Chef Michael Angelo Cabangon shared further reasons for relocating.
“Cafe Alfredo has decided to move around NRH in order to cater to various stakeholders…and since NRH is very closer, which I think, is a perfect spot for the FEU community,” he said.
As gratitude towards the Tamaraw community, the coffee shop’s first customer received a free drink during their soft launch.
The Cafe Alfredo crew started preparing October last year for the relocation including moving equipment and managing paperwork. In December, the store had a go-signal to temporarily close causing a dip in sales.
Despite moving places, Cafe Alfredo did not stop brewing something new for its customers.
“We’ve already introduced the premium drinks, the new drinks that we have specialized and handcrafted for our young students and then teachers as well,” Cabangon added.
The Cafe-in-Charge also estimates at least a few months to one year before going the cafe back to ARH. He also shared the possibility of staying at their current site.
“Once siguro mag-boom ang Cafe Alfredo, there’s a high possibility na Cafe Alfredo would be permanently staying at NRH (Maybe if Cafe Alfredo booms, there’s a high possibility that Cafe Alfredo would be permanently staying at NRH),” Cabangon added.
He also hopes for a future Cafe Alfredo restaurant, fine-dining, and an al fresco dining located on the sixth floor.
Cafe Alfredo is operated by the Hotel and Restaurant Management students from FEU’s Institute of Hotel and Restaurant Management.
