Far Eastern University Department of Communication (FEU DepComm) in partnership with the FEU Communication Society (CommSoc), officially launched FEU Students’ Digital Immersion on Screen (STUDIOS) last October 1.
In an online interview with FEU Advocate, DepComm Chair Herwin Cabasal shared that FEU STUDIOS is an internet-based digital network that will serve as a withstanding platform for student-made digital creations.
“If a particular content has ended its premiere or its series of screenings, it will be replaced by other programs, and the cycle continues. Students may graduate, new students may come in, but the official platform which is FEU STUDIOS will still be sustained,” Cabasal explained.
Before the establishment of the platform, each production house during the pandemic was tasked to create a Facebook page for streaming the content. However, the department noticed how the pages were abandoned after streaming.
“Also, after the screening of their content, that Facebook page that they created will stop its operation. It is either because the production is already done, or they already graduated. Then the audiences that they initially engaged will be abandoned. Sayang naman (It is such a waste),” he added.
For its launch, production projects from the Multimedia Production classes by the Communication seniors will be the first contributors to the platform.
FEU STUDIOS is keen on producing shows such as talk, magazine, variety, lifestyle, reality, news, documentary, TV series, short films, music videos, radio drama, radio news, podcast, vodcast, and hybrid.
The news magazine ‘TAMSFeed’ and documentary film ‘Game On!’ were streamed live last October 11 and October 13, respectively.
More productions are expected to air for the following weeks until December.
FEU STUDIOS will also accept creative outputs from CommSoc and Film Society members for the following months.
As of writing, DepComm has plans to conduct an onsite event to formally introduce FEU STUDIOS to the FEU community.
