FEU Advocate wins in LaSallian Scholarum Media Award

FEU Advocate’s Managing Editor Arvene John Dela Cruz and Patnugot ng Filipino Norwin Trilles were recognized for their Outstanding Media Coverage on Youth and Education in a School Organ in the 18th LaSallian Scholarum Awards (LSA) held at the De La Salle University (DLSU) Br. Andrew Gonzales Hall yesterday, March 22.
Out of the 10 handpicked finalists in the category, FEU Advocate’s Dela Cruz and Trilles were awarded the Outstanding Published featured article on youth and education in a school organ for their piece ‘Rutang Filipino: Unang Hakbang sa Edukasyong Maka-Pilipino?’, discussing the use of the Filipino language in the education set-up of the Philippines.
Back in 2009, FEU Advocate’s Hazel Joy Galamay was awarded in the same category with her story ‘FEU’s Artistic Heritage: Renewing a sense of Pride.’
With the theme “Youth: Represent”, this year’s LSA highlighted the development of the youth and education sectors while also recognizing the role of the media in raising awareness for the most pressing issues in the country.
Entries published from November 1, 2021 to October 21, 2022 were screened and shortlisted by a set of award-winning writers of the LSA external board of judges.
Other awardees included Atom Araullo from GMA Network, Lilian Tiburcio and Bryan Kristoffer Brazil from GMA News and Public Affairs, Aytch Dela Cruz from OneNews.PH, and Abby Boiser and Kurt Dela Peña from Philippine Daily Inquirer.
LSA is an annual media recognition program of DLSU that recognizes outstanding print, online, and broadcast media coverage of youth and education stories.
