Far Eastern University (FEU) welcomed the new breed of Tamaraws with the annual Tatak Tamaraw concert and is said to be the "most peaceful” event held at the FEU Quadrangle last August 30.
According to Maria Quinzanos, vice president for Internal Affairs of FEU-Red Cross Youth Council (RCYC), there were no severe casualties recorded. Only three minor injuries were reported which included skin blister, hyperacidity and sprain.
"So far, for me, ito siguro 'yung pinaka-peaceful. Walang nahilo, walang na-report sa amin na major injuries (So far, for me, this could be the most peaceful [welcome fest]. No one felt dizzy, there were no major injuries reported to us),” she said.
Moreover, Quinzanos also stated that due to lesser audience count this year, FEU-RCYC only deployed two teams who patrolled around the campus for immediate aid. The rest of the command posts were stationed at the gazebo area.
Hanson Manubag, secretary of FEU Central Student Organization (FEUCSO), estimated the attendees into less than 8,000 from FEU Manila and Makati based on the enrollees of freshmen and sophomores.
“Since we have the 8,000 freshmen population and more than 8,000 sophomores this year, I think it’s less than 8,000 as far as I know,” he explained.
For this year's line up, Original Pilipino Music (OPM) bands and artists, Hulyo, Dionela, Arthur Nery, Syd Hartha, Nathan & Mercury, Fern, and Callalily performed their hit singles at the FEU Grandstand.
Organized by FEUCSO, the event was in partnership with Listen Campus Tour wherein they invited experts from the Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) to give a talk about mental health awareness. Also, Tatak Tamaraw was said to be the first event organized by Listen Campus.
