Far Eastern University College Y Club (FEU CYC) hosted the online event 'YOUth Take Charge' to give light on how the youth can emerge in taking leadership roles through virtual discussions last Friday, October 30.
In an online response to FEU Advocate, Y Club's Director for Advocacy Geb Al Bari shared the story behind the online gathering.
"It was really just a simple event at first. But we were inspired by Sir Chel Diokno’s Quarantine Classroom so we adopted the idea. We don’t have any budget for this event but we manage to bring great speakers,” Al Bari explained.
The event featured Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo, Attorney Chel Diokno, Samira Gutoc, Miss Philippines Earth-Air 2020 Patrixia Santos, Miss Transglobal 2020 Mela Habijan, Sassa Gurl, Dora Dorado and FEU student leaders.
Guest alumni and student leaders from the University shared their journey from how they started their organization, their challenges, and their goals as well.
Further, keynote speaker VP Leni Robredo emphasized that serving people should not be limited to your social status nor age.
“If we are to solve our most pressing problems, we need more people to be engaged, give in pathways to contribute to society and empower. Act with integrity and push back against lies and injustice,” she expressed.
Moreover, pageant winners Santos and Habijan as well as social media influencers, Sassa Gurl and Dora Dorado explained their hardships during the pandemic and their recent projects and advocacies.
With the success of the event, Al Bari assured that the organization will stand solid by offering virtual talks, engagements, and workshops that embody the relentless commitment for strengthening the remarkable passion towards forming the green and gold community.
