Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Booters scored four goals in the second half to clinch a comeback win against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Lady Booters, 4-1, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s football tourney held at the University of the Philippines Diliman Football Field in Quezon City yesterday, April 15.
The Lady Tamaraws had a slow defensive start as UST’s striker Nicole Lorque took an opening goal at the nine-minute mark which stunned FEU at a 0-1 trail closing the first half.
FEU midfielder Jonela Albiño came through the España-based squad’s heavy defense to put a mark on the scoreboard for the green-and-gold squad during the 49th minute.
Albiño put another ball at the back of the net in the 73rd minute to lead the Morayta lady booters in scoring.
During the post-game interview, FEU Head Coach Let Dimzon commended Albiño’s performance after the team trailed in the first half and suffered a tough loss in their last game against the top-seed De La Salle University Lady Booters.
“It’s a good show up from Jonela na nag-standout siya (that she was a standout) coming from the midfield at nagscore (scored),” she said.
Two other Lady Tams tallied goals with Dionesa Tolentino and Marienell Cristobal scoring during the 55th minute and 82nd minute, respectively.
The win put FEU in a solo second-seed spot with a 4-0-1 win-draw-loss record and will next face the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on April 22 at the same venue.
