Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Booter Dionesa Tolentin was re-selected as an addition to the Philippine Women’s National Football Team for the Pinatar Cup 2024 happening in Spain, announced last February 15.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, Tolentin shared how thankful she is for the answered prayer of being added back to the national team.
“Masaya po [ako] kasi isa po ‘yon sa pinag-pray ko, na makabalik po ako sa national team. I never expect po na ma-call up kaya sobrang saya po talaga sa feeling po. I’m so thankful po talaga kasi God answered one of my prayers po (I’m happy because this is one of the things I prayed for, that I get to be part of the national team again. I never expect to be called up, that's why I feel very relieved. I’m so thankful because God answered one of my prayers),” she said.
Tolentin was a part of the national team’s roster for the Asean Football Federation Women’s Championship 2019 held in Thailand.
In the same interview, she also shared how FEU helped her in achieving this milestone. She thanked their Head Coach Let Dimzon for their unwavering dedication in enhancing her talent.
“Sobrang laking tulong po ng FEU kasi without them, hindi nila ako makikilala and ‘yung talent na meron ako, also to coach Let kasi siya ‘yung nag-enhance ng talent na meron ako and without her, I won’t be where I am right now (FEU was a big help because without the, I wouldn’t be recognized along with my talent, also to coach Let who helped me enhance the talent that I have and without her, I won’t be where I am right now),” Tolentin added.
The Lady Booter played for the FEU in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) for two seasons and won a championship title in Season 85.
Tolentin is set to defend their championship title for the UAAP Season 86 women’s football beginning on Saturday, March 2.
