Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws’ Final Four bid is out of reach after suffering their seventh straight loss against the Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons in a three-set sweep, 17-25, 17-25, 16-25, during their second-round matchup in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 84 women’s volleyball tournament last May 31 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Lady Tamaraws’ prized rookie Chenie Tagaod recorded 14 points from 13 attacks and one block, while team captain Shiela Kiseo chipped in eight markers from eight attacks.
However, their defensive efforts were not enough as four Lady Falcons produced double digits namely Trisha Genesis with 14 points, May Ann Nuique with 12 markers, Rizza Cruz and Kate Santiago both chipped in 11 points.
“Kulang lang po siguro ‘yung pagtrabaho namin sa loob ng court kaya po nangyari itong mga ‘to (Maybe it's just that we didn't work enough inside the court, that's why these things happened),” Tagaod said.
FEU’s Head Coach George Pascua shared the plans for the rest of the season knowing that they are out of any Final Four contention for this season.
“Alam naman namin [na] binigay ang best ng mga players for this tournament and hindi natatapos this season ‘yung tatrabahuhin namin so ‘yung learning namin, ‘yon ang magbibigay sa’min ng motivation para maka-move forward ulit next season (We know [that] the players have given their best for this tournament and this season will not end ‘what we will work on so‘ our learning, that will give us the motivation to move forward again next season),” Pascua shared after the loss.
The green-and-gold squad now sports a 1-9 win-loss record and will face the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on June 2 at the same venue.
