Far Eastern University (FEU) Booters Team Captain Viejay Frigillano sought redemption after encountering their first loss of the season against the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) Blue Eagles in the first round of eliminations in the men’s football tourney.
“Babawi kami next game against Ateneo, babawiin namin ‘yung talo last round para makuha ‘yung top 1 sa league na ‘to (We will recover next game against Ateneo, we will recover from the loss last round to get the top 1 in this league),” he said in an online interview with FEU Advocate.
The Morayta booters absorbed another draw match in their game against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 0-0, to open the second round of the tournament held earlier today, March 26, at the University of the Philippines Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.
FEU managed to gain possessions for the whole duration of the game, but AdU’s goalie Zaccheus Suarez put a strong defensive stop on the close goals of FEU’s Chester Gio Pabualan and Chester Soria.
Frigillano added that the team lacked finishing and maximizing opportunities with their shots on goal during the match.
“[On] our game against Adamson, na-control naman namin ‘yung game [sa] first and second half kahit na sobrang init but kinapos lang talaga kami sa mga finishing namin, hindi pumapasok mga shots on goal (On our game against Adamson, we managed to control the game in the first and second half even if the weather was too hot but we just really lacked on finishing, the shots on goal do not enter),” the team captain stated.
Green-and-gold goalie Mon Diansuy also mentioned that the team will continue to train to win the next games in the eliminations.
“For the next games, tuloy pa rin ang practice namin everyday kasi alam ko babawi kami para manalo sa remaining games (For the next games, we will continue to practice everyday because I know that we will redeem ourselves to win the remaining games),” he said.
The Frigillano-captained squad sits as the third seed with a 3-3-1 win-draw-loss card and will try to mount a comeback against the AdMU Blue Eagles on April 2 at the same venue.
