History Hates Lovers

We love stories of poets and bright minds,
The bleeding hearts and hands of daydreamers.
Yet, what about the lovers of all kinds?
The ones called "good friends" to fool the reader?
We are left with a single linen sheet,
Sappho's words eaten away by acid.
A piece of history they can't mislead—
The tenth muse also loved muses, we learned.
We are left with stories of Dionysus,
Myths of a mad God who was so chaotic,
he decided gender was meaningless—
he said if you did too, you are cosmic.
These fragments of the past are all we've got,
We have to jigsaw the rest with our hearts.
