Masungi Georeserve Foundation disclosed that they are looking forward to Far Eastern University (FEU) Wellness and Recreation Program’s (WRP) decision on the final schedule of their collaborative outdoor activity formalized after a Memorandum of Agreement signing held at the Education Building 604 last March 5.
WRP hinted a Masungi Georeserve outdoor activity posted on their Facebook page on November 11 that was supposed to launch last February.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, Masungi Georeserve Director for Advocacy and Trustee Billie Dumaliang stated that she’s unaware why the launch was delayed.
“I don’t know anything about the reasons for the change in plans but from our end, we’re just waiting for the final dates to be given to us,” she said.
Dumaliang shared that the two parties had been discussing a partnership for a long time, but only had the official signing this March.
“The meeting was held to have a ceremonial signing between FEU and the Masungi Georeserve Foundation to partner for the WRP program which will be held in the Masungi Georeserve,” Dumaliang said.
Dumaliang shared that they are set to prepare projects that will involve onsite visits to Masungi Georeserve, including nature-based activities, conservation works, along with other nature and wellness activities.
“It’s a major partnership, I would say, for our organization that a school supports our work and therefore, contributes to the continued protection of the landscape,” she stated.
Moreover, Dumaliang expressed her anticipation for the project.
“We like the program because obviously it’s different and it will really expose the students to the outdoors and to environmental conservation,” she affirmed.
According to the Masungi Georeserve Trustee, the prospective date for the project is April 2024.
