Giving more knowledge about scriptwriting, Far Eastern University (FEU) Department of Communication (DepComm), Student Development (SDev), and Communication Society (CommSoc) collaborated with Scriptwriting Professor Seymour Sanchez, convened “Behind the Scripts” at University Conference Center on June 1.

“Behind the Scripts” was an event where professional writers shared their insights and experiences relevant to scriptwriting.

“Usually kasi when I teach a subject in a school, as much as possible, lalo na 'pag scriptwriting, I invite Ricky Lee and other writers to grace the event para at least 'yung students mayroon silang ibang vision, ibang pananaw ng writers, hindi lang 'yung nagtuturo sa kanila ng scriptwriting. (Usually, when I teach a subject in a school, as much as possible, especially if it is screening writing, I invite Ricky Lee and other writers to grace the event for the students to at least have other vision, other perspective of other writers, not only of the one teaching them),” Sanchez said.

“Nakikilala mo 'yung artista, magaling ang artista dahil dun sa dialogues na binitawan nya, eh sinulat 'yun ng writer. Or nakikilala mo 'yung direktor pero 'yung direktor nakadepende din dun sa story na sinulat ng writer (You recognize the celebrity, celebrities are great because of their dialogue which was written by writers. Or you recognize the director but the director is dependent to the story that the writers write),” he added.

Award-winning short film Wag Kang Titingin director Pamela Miras, director of award-winning full-length film Paano ko Sasabihin Richard Legaspi, director of upcoming Magtanggol Sigfreid Sanchez, and teleplay writer and best-selling book Parang Tayo Pero Hindi author Noreen Capili were the resource speakers in the event. They discussed Writing for Short Films, Visual Storytelling, Writing for Full-Length Films, and Writing for Soap Operas, respectively. Sanchez shared in the interview that he chose these people to be the resource speakers because of their differing fortes.

Meanwhile, esteemed writer Ricky Lee were not able to attend the event. However, he still participated in it by sharing his insights through a recorded video which was showed in the event.
