Swaying Alone

By James Pascua
On your first night away,
My heart could not be kept at bay.
Your scent in our home lingers,
I wished I held you longer with my fingers.
The melody of your voice,
Embraced my soul in rejoice.
But then came the evening,
While the skies were illuminating,
Amidst our final dance,
You left, without a glance.
Even on my darkest days,
I felt safe in your loving gaze.
But how can the sky shine in its spectrum of color—
When my heart turned gray, away from my lover?
