Tams Bookstore (TBS) reassures Far Eastern University (FEU) students that their supplier can suffice uniforms in light of Wellness and Recreation Program’s (WRP) updated policy to require uniforms for WRP sessions.
As per WRP's announcement on Canvas, WRP specialists will only credit the activities if students attended with the prescribed Physical Education or WRP uniforms.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, TBS Manager Gwenn Jessica Galvez said they currently have approximately 5,000 uniform sets in-stock.
“We are coordinating with the WRP office to determine if additional stocks are needed,” she added.
Galvez also stated that the uniforms gained sales since the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, WRP declined the interview regarding the students’ concerns.
In response to the announcement, students showed their dismay and flayed the policy change on Facebook group One Piyu Community (OPC).
Several posts regarding buy-sell secondhand WRP uniforms in OPC rose for immediate purchases.
In their posts, students cited the outfits’ comfortability and durability including that stocks from TBS quickly ran out.
Second-year BS Medical Technology student Karel Ysabell Ragudo expressed her frustration over the new policy.
“Sobrang short noticed nu’ng announcement nila… Ang daming time before the semester starts para mag-announce. Sana nakapag-ready or nakapag-allot ‘yung students to buy uniforms (Their announcement was very short noticed… There was a lot of time before the semester to announce. Students could have prepared or allotted to buy uniforms),” she said.
Ragudo also shared her preference for the previous semesters’ policies wherein alternative WRP uniforms were accepted.
“I think ‘yung uniform policy naman has always been like that since noong nagstart ako here sa FEU… Kaya sana ma-consider nila ‘yung policy na ‘yon (I think the uniform policy has always been like that since I started here in FEU… So I hope they can consider that policy),” she explained.
TBS will replenish stocks as soon as items reach their minimum inventory level, while students may purchase the uniforms in all TBS branches.
