The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Board of Managing Directors decided to extend the suspension of all UAAP season 82 scheduled games until Tuesday, March 17.
“This [is] to give every member of the community ample time to adjust to the current situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19)”, the statement read.
Earlier today, the collegiate league only suspended all its sporting events until Friday, March 14.
The suspension was made in accordance with the declaration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last night to place the country in a State of Public Health Emergency.
With growing cases of the said virus, President Duterte also ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in National Capital Region (NCR) from March 10-14.
As of posting time, nine new confirmed cases were announced by the Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines, bringing the total tally of infected people to 33.
On March 16, UAAP will have another announcement on how the league will continue its remaining games of the season.
