Far Eastern University Dance Company (FDC) - Kings hailed as the first runner-up in the recently concluded Dance Supremacy (DS) Kings and Queens for the all-male college division held at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater last January 14.
University of the Philippines Streetdance Club (UPSDC) secured the championship with 90.33 points, while the FEU Institute of Technology Artist Connection Exude Dancers (FIT AC-Exude Dancers) took home the bronze medal with 85.67 points.
Despite the 0.33-point difference between FDC against UPSDC, the troupe remains positive toward the outcome of their performance.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, student-coach and senior member Elvin Salazar shared that the team is more determined now to show an improved version of themselves for their upcoming competitions.
"Hindi kami dapat magpahinga. Kung mag-wowork hard kami, what more 'yung ibang teams? Frustrated pero at the same time, gigil kami na bumawi—lalo na sila [junior members] But still thankful na second place kami (We will not rest. If we work harder, what more are the other teams? We're frustrated but at the same time, we're hungry to do better—especially them [junior members] But still thankful that we placed second),” he said.
With the theme, "Finding peace amidst chaos,” team captain Joseph Torres expressed his satisfaction with how the team successfully delivered the message through their choreography.
"Hearing a lot of people say [their praises for the team], it's enough for me to prove that we gave justice to the piece," he said.
Meanwhile, FDC’s all-female roster for DS Queens landed in fourth place after garnering a score of 84.33.
This event marks the troupe’s first competition in the past three years since the pandemic began.
