On its 90th foundation anniversary, Far Eastern University (FEU) welcomed its former students at the FEU Grand Alumni Homecoming 2018 last December 8.
Over 800 alumni gathered at the FEU quadrangle to join the culminating event of the year-long celebration of the university’s 90th founding anniversary. Pre-homecoming activities also accommodated the alumni prior to the program proper, including the art exhibit, showing of “Be Brave: The Story of Far Eastern University”, and the Guided Campus Tour, which was led by the FEU Guides.
“The fact that it’s 90 years (since the founding of the university), I want to see the old people. I love the school so much na kahit na four years lang nag-stay, [I had] so many memories with my buddies from high school. Pagpasok ko pa lang pinost ko na nga ‘yung FEU tapos nilagyan ko ng background na ‘Ikaw lamang ang lagi kong binabalikan’, (The fact that it's 90 years, I want to see the old people. I love the school so much that even though we’ve only stayed for four years, I had so many memories with my buddies from high school. Upon entering, I’ve already posted (pictures of) FEU),” FEU High School Alumni Class of 1979 Joie Manalo said.
The FEU Drum and Bugle Corps prompted the beginning of the program and performed Christmas renditions which were later followed by FEU Cheering Squad’s dance and stunts to welcome the guests.
Vice President for Corporate Affairs Attorney Gianna Montinola spearheaded the program and shared with the alumni the achievements and accomplishments of the outstanding students produced by FEU after 90 years since its founding.
“We want to show the bravery of each alumnus, who continues to excel in conquering the challenges of life, by helping create a foundation for future Tamaraws”, stated Atty. Montinola.
Moreover, homegrown talents headed by FEU Performing Arts Alumni Association executed exceptional performances, showcasing the aptitudes of FEU graduates. Ramon Magsaysay awardee and FEU batch ’62 alumni Ligaya Fernando-Amilbangsa’s troupe also staged the Sulu’s rich culture with ‘pangalay’ dance at FEU grandstand.
The event ended with the singing of the FEU Hymn followed by a fireworks display.
