Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws suffered their fourth straight loss of the season after an 11-point defeat against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 65-76, in the first-round eliminations of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 men’s basketball tourney held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City last October 12.
It was already a rough start for the green-and-gold squad as the Soaring Falcons showed tight defense to limit FEU’s offense during the first canto, 8-17.
The Tamaraws continued to struggle upon entering the second half after Adamson’s Vince Magbuhos showered treys, leaving FEU on a 16-point trail with 7:10 ticks left in the last quarter, 47-63.
In an online interview with FEU Advocate, FEU gunner Xyrus Torres mentioned that they have to double their efforts and be more consistent in their games.
“Nandun naman always ‘yung effort namin pero kailangan namin doblehin pa effort [namin] kasi nga for sure, lahat ng team [ay] malalakas and one thing na kailangan improve pa namin is [to be] consistent (Our effort has always been there but [we] still need to double our effort because for sure, all of the teams [are] strong and one thing that we need to improve is to be consistent),” Torres said.
FEU sophomore guard Patrick Sleat led the team after creating 18 points, while Torres generated 14 points with 4/7 from beyond the arc.
Bryan Sajonia, who was seen back in action after missing out on two games for the Morayta cagers, was only limited to eight markers, seven boards, and two dimes.
The Morayta-based squad now sports a 0-4 win-loss record and will try to secure their first win against the De La Salle University Green Archers on Saturday, October 15 at the same venue.
