Student-led organizations such as FEU Central Student Organization (FEUCSO), including Institute student councils, FEU Political Science Society (PSS), FEU Interdisciplinary Studies Society (IDS-SOC), FEU Film Society, FEU Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA), and Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) - FEU Chapter have condemned the viral Tarlac shooting incident and have sought to end police brutality. 

In an online statement, FEUCSO expressed their anger and grief over the death of a mother and the son in Tarlac province, demanding the authorities to be fair.

“Nananawagan ang konseho sa mga awtoridad na maging tapat sa pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon sa pangyayaring ito (The Congress is calling the authorities to be fair in conducting an investigation in the incident),” the statement read.

The student government also demanded an action to the administration regarding the vast killings by the policemen.

Further, YWCA - FEU Chapter also expressed their denouncement by stating, “No one gets to decide, specifically the police, which lives are more valuable. They do not get to decide which ones they will carelessly handle until they’re left with blood on their hands.”

Institute of Nursing Student Council (INSC) slammed ‘to serve and protect’ tagline of policemen by justifying that these policemen are the ones who are doing gruesome crimes.

Institute of Accounts, Business, and Finance Student Council (IABFSC) demanded "justice and accountability" on the incident, saying "we have the right to seek protection from the state whose primary purpose is to serve the people."

Moreover, FEU SAGA extended their condolences to the Gregorio family and sought accountability and justice for the killings committed by the members of Philippine National Police (PNP). 

The organization also called on the Philippine government to stop being an enabler of these acts of terror.

FEU PSS reminded in a post that the shooting incident is "not an isolated case," but rather another victim of police brutality and impunity in the country, while FEU IDS-SOC vowed to “stand with the masses,” denouncing “abuse of power, climate impunity, and brutality of state forces.”

Lastly, FEU Film Society encouraged everyone to join along with the media to fight for justice in these trying times.

Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca shot 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25, in Purok 2, Barangay Cabayaoasan, Paniqui in Tarlac on Sunday afternoon, December 20. 

It was seen in the viral video of the shooting that during an argument due to a firecracker called boga, Sonya mockingly replied when Nuezca’s daughter emphasized “my father is a policeman,” causing Nuezca to be angered and shoot the mother and her son in the head. 

After an hour, the policeman eventually surrendered at the Rosales Pangasinan Municipal Police Station.

PNP Region 3 Chief Brigadier General Val de Leon said that Nuezca will receive two charges of murder without bail.
